KOZY ÉCOLE MILITAIRE

PARIS
A space shaped by light, warmth, and movement.
The suspended arc of light becomes a sculptural gesture that energises the space and creates a memorable experience.
HYPNOS XP was commissioned by KOZY to develop their 7th all-day brunch restaurant in Paris’ Ecole Militaire neighbourhood, next to the Eiffel Tower.
At the heart of the project is a dramatic suspended arc of light that traverses the entire space, acting as both a sculptural centrepiece and a subtle wayfinding element. Floating overhead, the illuminated structure, built by Atelier Mazar, draws visitors through the interior, casting a warm, diffused glow reminiscent of sunset light. Its presence is experiential and atmospheric - bringing energy, movement, and a sense of wonder while softening the robust architectural framework that surrounds it.
A suspended arc of soft illumination sweeps through the interior, guiding visitors.
Anchoring the room is a monumental cast-concrete counter that wraps around the original circular concrete pillar at the centre of the space. Constructed by Raw Forms, it has a cascading, tired geometry that embraces the material's imperfections, celebrating texture and craftsmanship. A stainless-steel worktop in a vibrated finish introduces a refined industrial contrast, appearing to hover effortlessly above the sculpted concrete mass.
The architecture itself provides a strong and distinctive character. Existing rounded concrete beams radiate from the central pillar, establishing a structural rhythm across the ceiling. In response, additional arches are introduced throughout the interior, bringing softness, movement, and a sense of joy that gently disrupts the rigidity of the structural grid. Built-in seating elements adopt these same curved forms, creating intimate moments within the larger volume and reinforcing the project's cohesive visual language.
retro-futuristic experience.
The bathroom transforms a functional space into an immersive experience. A luminous grid lightbox ceiling and infinity mirror evoke a playful, almost cinematic atmosphere, while a sculptural terrazzo sink reinforces the project's geometric language and commitment to crafted material expression.
Materiality is rich, tactile, and deliberately layered. Walls clad in caramel-toned Okumé plywood introduce warmth and depth, enveloping the space in a natural glow. A striped tiled wall creates a subtle play of shadow and texture, adding visual movement and enhancing the perception of depth. Underfoot, a speckled terrazzo floor provides a unifying surface that balances the palette while reflecting light softly throughout the interior.
Throughout the project, light, form, and material work together to create an environment that feels warm, energetic, and memorable - an interior shaped by the atmosphere of sunset and defined by a continuous sense of movement and discovery.
