A MONUMENTAL, BRUTALIST RESTAURANT

Defined by a minimal aesthetic, the space balances raw concrete, sculptural geometry, and custom-designed furniture.

Commissioned as HYPNOS XP's first project in the Middle East, JUNK Dubai transforms a 150m², six-metre-high concrete shell into a bold architectural landscape where geometry, scale, and materiality define the experience.

At its centre, a reimagined conversation pit becomes the project's sculptural heart. Formed from faceted stainless steel volumes, the sunken seating challenges the conventional circular typology with a striking geometric composition.

The project inserts a series of sculptural interventions that grow from the architecture itself.

The material palette is intentionally restrained yet expressive. Raw structural concrete is paired with textured mineral coatings, stainless steel and brushed aluminium, allowing light to animate the surfaces throughout the day. Every piece of furniture, from the seating and tables to the lighting, was custom designed by HYPNOS EDITIONS, reinforcing a cohesive architectural language where furniture and building become one.

Integrated custom aluminium tables unfold seamlessly from the surrounding benches, creating a singular piece of functional architecture that encourages gathering and interaction.

TOWERING GEOMETRY.

Three towering pyramidal structures emerge directly from the built-in banquette, extending towards the six-metre ceiling and drawing the eye upwards to celebrate the dramatic proportions of the space.

Stretching across the interior, a seven-metre cantilevered stainless steel counter establishes a powerful horizontal datum beneath a suspended geometric volume.

Rather than decorating the existing shell, the project inserts a series of sculptural interventions that grow from the architecture itself. The result is an immersive interior that is raw yet refined, where bold geometry, industrial craftsmanship and monumental scale create an unforgettable dining experience.
